Not a bad turnout this week, for a nice walk on a sunny day taking in the viaduct at Chapel Milton, and stopping for Pie time at the top of Eccles Pike. We lost Hughie and Greg along the way but managed to find them at Buxworth Basin.

Next week’s walk will be led by Chris, meeting at Sutton Hall, Macclesfield, SK11 0HE, 9.40am start and back to the Hall for drinks around 1-1.30pm.

Depleted numbers due to the Wanderers European Invasion meant that it was just myself and Steve this week and due to an oversight on my behalf we had to car share, so thanks Steve for picking me up.

This is a nice flat easy walk, we skirted around the boundary fence of the airport next to Runway 2 for approximately 30 minutes, heading toward the under runway tunnel created for the Bollin river.

Unfortunately the last quarter of a mile was blocked due to construction work (only a couple of days before!). However we boxed round and continued the route, some paths were a little overgrown and we met a field full of moody bulls but other than that we had a pleasant walk.

We picked up the Bollin trail and walked back to the Ship Inn where we met Tom for a pint.

Next week’s walk will be led by Russell, starting from Chinley. SK23 9EJ, 9.40am start. Meet on the bridge over the bypass. Route – Chinley Circular.

Happy Wandering!

A reasonable turnout this week saw fine weather but a chill breeze, we followed the route as shown, which gave us great views of Derbyshire on the way up, and from the top of Werneth Low we had a great view of the Tameside Area (including the bright yellow IKEA). We routed back

through the park and migrated to the Norfolk Arms Pub in Marple Bridge to meet Jock and Milly.

Next week’s walk will be led by Russell, starting at the The Ship Inn, Styal, SK9 4JE. 9.40am meet.

Parking is on the lane at the side of the pub outside the Country Park.
